Tourmaline

Here I am with Tourmaline in the background in her slip at the Dock Street Marina.

Dock Street Marina is Tacoma’s finest marina and won national recognition in 2010. It is located on the Foss Waterway within a block of the Chihuly Glass Museum, Washington State Historical Museum, and the Tacoma Art Museum. The Foss Waterway Seaport Museum is a few blocks walking distance. This is an ideal location for tourism and the docks are in first class condition with cable TV and boatside sewer pumpout facilities. This marina is owned by the City of Tacoma and managed by the Elliot Bay Marina Management Co.

In 2010 I took the Coast Guard License training course from Capt. Skip Anderson, owner/ operator of the Flagship Maritime Training School, located at 821 Dock Street, Tacoma, Washington, 98402. Classes are given at this facility on the Foss Waterway as well as other venues under the auspices of Flagship Maritime Training. Skip Anderson is a highly qualified instructor and veteran US Navy officer. Informatiion regarding training schedules may be located at Flagshipmaritimetraining.com, or email info@flagshipmaritimetraining.com. By phone call (253) 227 2003 and ask for Skip.

I earned my Coast Guard captain’s license to operate an uninspected vessel with up to six passengers. More passengers than that would be a crowd on Tourmaline, my 36 foot Catalina. However, with my teaching experience for the US Power Squadron’s sailing class, club racing experience with Three Tree Point Yacht Club, and 40 years of sailing experience on the waters of Puget Sound and British Columbia, I would be pleased to speak with anyone interested in private sailing lessons, or a sailing trip with up to four or five guests, depending upon the duration of the outing. Overnight trips would be possible for one or two passengers. More than these limits would be uncomfortable for the participants, and would decrease the enjoyment of the outing for all concerned. My card with contact information is on the home page of this web site and I would be happy to discuss any such interests that you may have in lessons or just a sailing outing. Leave a voice mail if you are unable to reach me by phone or just contact me by email at: Lowell@SailTourmaline.com.
